Emily Badillo yoga stretch

Hi! I’m Emily, a dynamic Yoga and Ayurveda practitioner and educator.
I specialize in transforming student’s lives through supported movement (asana) and breathwork (pranayama).  I help my students build the foundations to be successful and happy in every aspect of their life, from the inside out. When we practice Yoga together, you not only get a work-out, you also get a “work-in!”

Background

Emily Badillo is a Yoga and Ayurveda Educator and Specialist based in Westchester, NY. While living in Honolulu, Hawaii, Emily studied and trained extensively in the Krishnamacharya Lineage under Yoga Master Teachers Murti Hower of Maha Fusion and Mary Bastien of Open Space Yoga. Emily completed her first 200 Hour Yoga Training in 2015 and has since completed trainings in Yoga Nidra, the science of Yogic Sleep and Guided Meditation with Brenda Kwon, Jennifer Reuter, and Mary Bastien; Yoga & Ayurveda: The Knowledge of Life & Longevity under Mary Bastien as taught by Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri); Tantra and Meditation, under Mary Bastien and Jennifer Reuter; and Sanskrit under Dharma Widdman. Emily is currently studying and practicing Ayurveda as an Ayurvedic Health Consultant under the mentorship of Mary Bastien.

In 2016, Emily was introduced to the transformative and spiritually uplifting Vedic practices of Bhakti-yoga by her dear friend and fellow teacher, Rasika Gopi Devi Dasi, RYT-200. Since then, she has been immersed in the study and practice of Bhakti-yoga, Mantra and Meditation as taught by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. She is currently studying Vedic Literature and Philosophy under Narahari Das.

Emily is also a Children and Teen Yoga Educator. She completed her children and teen Yoga training in 2016 with the international organization Yoga Ed. and has since taught public classes in both classroom settings and after-school programs around the Honolulu area. She has worked with students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through the Palolo Valley Homes low-income housing opportunity projects.

Emily is certified by Yoga Alliance, the international standard for Yoga Teachers and Educators.

Starting a business in NYC

November 15, 2017 by golokanyc

How do you start a business in NYC?

Well, for one you could dive right in, like we did at Goloka! Adi, from Interfaith Community Services, offered to rent us a space that could be used as a storefront. He was working on setting up a full soup kitchen in the back, and we could use the area in front to have a juice bar, and we started right away with construction work in early 2013. Before we knew it, we were out there promoting our healthy juices and smoothies – seen in the picture here is Hilal, showing off our “Red Monk” – juice from apple, beet, lemon, ginger… (look out for the recipe!)

You need a healthy customer base, but what do you do when you don’t have one yet? Start creating one.. and word of mouth will help you if you have a good product. Our free samples outside helped draw attention to the storefront located on a quiet street in New York, next to the police precinct. New Yorkers love free samples, and we were there to serve..

More tips on sampling to draw customers will be posted.. stay tuned!
